Find out how much of your messaging isn’t yours.

We read your page and up to four competitors’, then measure the overlap across category, audience, promise, claims and proof. You get one number, the pair-by-pair breakdown, and the two lists that matter: what only you say, and what everyone says.

Your score is compared against the Wynter Sameness Benchmark: 445 category leaders across 61 B2B categories, scored the same way, so the report says whether you are more or less same than the leaders in yours.

The page you want measured. Homepage or main product page works best — that is where positioning lives.

Questions

What the Sameness Index is, and is not.

What is a Sameness Index?

The Sameness Index is a score from 0 to 100 for how much of your page's messaging also appears on your competitors' pages. 0 means distinctive: what you say, they do not. 100 means interchangeable: swap the logo and a buyer would not notice. It is computed from atomic claims grouped across every site at once, weighted by how prominently each claim is placed.

How is the Sameness Index calculated?

Each page is broken into atomic claims, tagged by type and by placement on the page. Claims that make the same assertion are grouped across all sites. The index combines six weighted categories: what the pages say about category, audience, promise, capabilities and proof, plus page structure. A model answers only categorical questions; every percentage is computed in code.

Does a low Sameness Index mean my messaging is good?

Not on its own. A page can be distinctive and still say nothing a buyer weighs. The report separates the two: the Sameness Index measures overlap, and the ownable share measures how much of your page is unique, relevant to a buying decision and hard to copy. Whether buyers notice either is a question only real buyers can answer.

How do I know whether my Sameness Index is good?

Your score is compared against the Wynter Sameness Benchmark: the category leaders in more than 60 B2B software and services categories, each scored the same way against the others in its category. The report states the average for your category and whether you are more or less same than the leaders in it, and it shows where your score and your named competitors sit on the same scale.

Which competitors should I compare against?

The ones a buyer puts you next to on a shortlist. One competitor is enough to run; four gives a read on the whole category. You can also compare against the curated category leaders Wynter has already scored.

Is the Sameness Checker free?

Yes. You enter an email address to receive the report, and that address is subscribed to Wynter's weekly B2B messaging newsletter, which you can leave at any time. No card, no subscription, no trial.

The Sameness Checker reads real pages and groups what they say; it simulates no one. Whether a buyer notices the difference is what Wynter’s human research answers.
